Optimist or Pessimist?

orchidee

You know the saying:

'Is your glass half full or half empty?'

It might be both!

But with the seasons

After the Shortest Day -

The nights are drawing out again

After the Longest Day -

The nights are drawing in again

Just after Christmas -

That's that done for another 12 months

Or in mid-June -

Only 6 months to go until Christmas

In January -

Spring will follow in about a couple of months

In October -

Winter's soon on it's way

Take these which ways you will

And - Can you please all the people all of the time?

Or will you have to make do with

Pleasing some of the people some of the time?

Two men in a prison - one looks down, the other looks up

One saw mud, the other saw stars

(This rhymes somehow - not a verbatim quote here)

'There's nowt so queer as folk', the saying goes

And I'm rambling on again

'No change there then' you say?

'Still waffling, spouting, proclaiming

In your daft times

Things of no importance at all!'

LOL

Words of wisdom spill like water from an overfilled glass. Lovely write "one saw mud the other saw stars" So true.

Thanks SB. That's not an original saying by me. It's by Dale Carnegie (1888 - 1955).

        • sorenbarrett

It applies well and fits here

You know, for a poem about nothing at all, this was rather wise, my friend! Great insight! Enjoyed it much and faved this wise daftness too! 🌹👏

            ThanksT. lol.

              You’re welcome, my friend!

              • orchidee

You favouring this nonsense?! heehee, thanks. I never know which poems to 'favour'. And I tend to muck up 'fusioned' poems with inappropriate, and unappreciated, daft lines, so I usually steer clear of them.

                • Tristan Robert Lange

Well, if I ever do a fusion poem, know I am specifically looking for your daftness friend! 😂 As long as you’re down with that, you can skip all the others! 🤣

If I fill anyone's glass, of course, it will be half full (50% in total), but 25% wine and 25% water! heehee.

Why look in the mud when the heavens and the stars are above you? Well penned Orchi.

Coming or going? Inside or out? Here or there? Neither the why nor where...
