I Must

Teddy.15

I'm sitting on a park bench

it's 06:55 am, it's friday

the temperature is 2c

razor blade winds

cutting into my head

even though i’m wearing a thermal wooly hat

are you wondering

why I'm sitting here?

research, I wanted to research

what it might feel like for a homeless person

who actually lives on a bench

to be honest I couldn't sit here

for more than five minutes

reflecting on the fact

this is home to someone

how can any human

possibly, physically live in this way?

I sat for five minutes

impossible to stay any longer

I came to the conclusion

it is the very miracle and power

of the word "must"

today…

 “I MUST survive”.

โ€œMustโ€ precisely put, the night I had to sleep, outdoors- locked out and nowhere else to go. It changes you as well. Good call there!

      • Teddy.15

We live and we learn, that's a sure thing if we can survive first. Humbled by your honesty dear Arqios thank you sir. ๐ŸŒน

Sad that some people have no choice at all. This is their life. A fight for survival especially in the cold winter months. Your poem shows much compassion and empathy dear Teddy. Putting yourself in the shoes of those who have fallen on hard times. ๐ŸŒน

Dearest Cassie, in fact they could be us at any time, humans having a bad time, there is always a stigma in the UK that they deserve to be there, but it's false and we know it, life can change in a moment and we all need to appreciate that. Thank you dearest friend. ๐ŸŒน

There are so many homeless people nowadays but those with the power and the money to halt this just do not care!
                True words Teddy.
