We now enter into the longest night,
The day is now over where the sun shone,
Its rays shining on us with that bright light,
But that light has now left us on our own.
In this darkness we now sit together,
Looking towards the light now increasing,
Bringing to us such glorious weather,
And the troubles in our world now ceasing.
On this solstice day hope’s there within us,
Bringing us a wish of hope, love and cheer,
Where peace is with all the world to discuss,
Bringing us peace and love throughout the year.
We are entering into this longest night,
And now coming into the birth of light.

You are very welcome
Or is it tomorrow? Has the leap year moved it on a day? Or is tomorrow about 5 seconds lighter than today?!
Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday.

Hey Andy, this poem beautifully captures the essence of the solstice as a metaphor for hope and renewal. The imagery of transitioning from the longest night to the increasing light reflects the journey from darkness to brighter days, both literally and metaphorically. Quite uplifting and superbly enjoyable.
Thank you arqios for your wonderful words, much appreciated.

Most kind John, thank you.

Yes - the Solstice and all the celebrations around it always made more sense to me in the Northern wintery hemisphere than it does in the South. (though I'm not complaining...)
Rich write, Andy.
You do have the longest day at this time where you are Dave. Thank you.
Andy
That I am fully aware of Andy. What I tried to express is that the Winter Solstice is a real experience in the Northern Hemisphere, and I do hope you celebrate the cold in front of a roaring fire (neva mind global warning since it is you....)
The winter solstice and I watched the celebrations at Stonehenge. Our days will start to get fractionally lighter from now on. Always welcome and also with a hope that this turning point will bring in change for the better. An uplifting read Andy.
Thank you Cassie, yes I hope it will bring a change for the better as well.
