~> Her Final Destination

Thad Wilk

He was leaving her on that fateful day.

He promised he'd love her for always.

She left, to plead for her lover to stay.

Drove off to the train station in a daze.

**

Wore her pretty red dress and matching shoes.

The locket he gave her when they first met.

Had to see him, there was no time to lose.

His mind she would change, there was a chance yet!

**

Her car it stalled two blocks from the station.

The train was leaving, he would not be back.

Today 'twas her final destination;

now a lone 'red shoe,' lie upon the track.

**

Without his love she could not bear the pain;

with tear filled eyes, she leaped 'fore the train~
