The Most Lonely day Of the Year

TobaniNataiella

The Most Lonely day Of The Year.

I haven't got a twinkling Christmas tree.

I don't have tinsel hanging all around me.

I don't have any cards hanging on the wall.

My ceiling isn't covered in glitter balls.

I don't want a mountain of food to gorge on.

There will be no rings / bleeps on my telephone.

No one will be knocking on my front door.

I won't have presents piled high on the floor.

I won't have a selection of nuts on the table.

I won't be watching the latest film on cable.

No warm cosy fire cannot afford the electric.

No chats with any kind of friend or relative.

I won't be raising a glass in joyous merriment.

I won't be drinking beers till my heart's content.

No Christmas pudding to send up in hot flames.

I won't be getting stressed over a board game.

No dozing on the settee cus I have eaten too much.

I guess you could say I am in a little bit of a rut.

To be honest I don't miss, want or need any of these.

All I want for Christmas is a little bit of company.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Firstly just to say i have never and would never wish an unhappy Christmas on anyone, and i sincerely hope that as many as possible are having a fantastic loving day. Sadly that will not be the case for all people, if like me you will have some music on because you cannot bare to put the television on and be reminder of the day you should have, you have got your meal for one ready to ping, this one is for who.

A poem about not celebrating the material things but the meaning of Christmas. I love it and very nicely worded as well

Christmas is peopled lesser and lesser up my way. It's probably partly due to the piling on of years and the diversification of opportunities and tele-relationships and such. I also think that Christmas has also diminished in its lustre for many people. As in the note on the Christmas poem I posted this year, I feel that we should allow everyone to celebrate it in their own way and not coerce others to do it one certain way. But that's just me. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, dear friend, for this poem. To me the most important reminder of all. Nobody should be alone on any day, let alone a holiday.
Your message is apt and tugs at the heartstrings! Tobani, I am sorry this is yours and many others reality. If I could hop the great lake dividing us, I would swing by and spend some time saying hi and eating cookies…or anything for that matter! 🤣 All of that said, I am truly sending you warm wishes on this cold day, my dear friend. I feel blessed to have met you. ❤️

Your poem makes you realize a lot of people have to spend Christmas alone. Of course the end is the cure. A bit of company. Lol. It was written really really well. Thanks for the read.

        A bittersweet poem
        really touching!
        Great reminder that
there are a lot of folks
        that are alone Christmas
        and not a happy time
        at all,, for some.
        A little company would
put a smile on their faces. ☺️
        Thanks for sharing,! 🙏
        Best regards ✌️ Thad
