Tune: Winchester Old
('While shepherds watched')
1 John 3 v.16-19 - For St John's Day, Dec 27.
**********
Hereby we God's love do perceive
In it we do believe
That He laid down His life for us
In his Son sent to us
And we ought to lay down our lives
For each other, so thrives
The love of God, so we do share
With each other His care
But who has this world's goods, its store
And sees the needy, poor
And closes heart of compassion
To them their fellow-men
How in them does love of God dwell?
It does not, we do tell
Let us not love in word only
But in actions too, see
So do we share God's love, His light
It appears to man's sight
May we His love show, word and deed
His command to love heed

A subject dear to heart. We as poets speak in words but unless they are put to action they fall on deaf ears. A subject I have recently written more than one poem about. Very nice Orchi
Thanks SB.
Nice to use a carol tune, perhaps the message will get through! ‘Silent Night’ got to me after decades of singing it; now like a memory aid!
Thanks A.
