Midnight came,
The New Year was here,
So out of the front door I went
Glass of scotch in hand,
And across the road
Some neighbours were out.
We wished each other
A Happy New Year,
Stood and chatted in the wind,
Fireworks going off around us.
We were the only ones out
So as usual I said ‘Cheers’,
‘Cheers’ to the New Year
And to all in my life
Both present and passed.
And the same I say to you,
To you all who read these words,
May the New Year be filled,
Filled with love, Joy and peace.
