in candescent ascent

arqios

Notice of absence from arqios
an absence of Presence conjures Absence…

Hermitage wraps around him

a shimmering cloak of quiet light.

he meditates in candescent stillness

finding centredness within its glow

a candelabra’s incandescent silence.

His variegated thoughts

a stream of luminescence

flow gently through his mind

each moment, each breath aflame.

In cadences of tranquility

he discovers the serenity of self

each thought a note of calm

each breath a placid soliloquy.

Magnificent words of meditation to center body and mind. Nicely timed and written with careful word choice. Lovely and peaceful

      • arqios

Thanks for mentioning the timing. It’s not the easiest to catch on to. So something worthwhile had taken place. My heartfelt gratitude for your beneficial feedback, as ever πŸ™πŸ»

Yep, back the front; no likes in that one!

I quietly mutter that I want to eat steak. In Japan, we don't eat much steak. It's a feast.

          • arqios

Oh, that’s why we go to the American base where they serve steak at Chilli’s in Yokosuka!

A call for peace to the mind and soul delivering that so important inner calm. ( and for some reason, i have no idea why, it reminds me of Liberace), really enjoyed the read.

            • arqios

Oh, that’s a bit of a curiosity. I might like to find out the connection. Thanks kindly, πŸ™πŸ»

It feels like it plays softly as you read it, like classical music and the candelabras.

Yes - and going into some churches if open midweek, there can be total silence in some places.

                • arqios

That is a familiar feeling. The echoing can be all encompassing in their reverence as well.

And also in some places, even if full of people - as in 'Anyone awake in 'ere? (or anyone alive)'? Doh!

One of the things I was thinking I ought to do this year, not as a resolution (because those are made to be broken) but as a soft nudge of my psyche and soul…and that is to dive deeper into meditation. Such beneficial practice, imho. Anywho, wonderful poem that brings meditation and self-discovery to my mind. πŸŒΉπŸ‘

You are welcome, my friend. Yes...the most worthy of all journeys, imho (not to say I don't love globetrotting too 🀣). A life-long journey at that. What's a poetic introspective introvert supposed to do? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Arqios , really sorry to hear of your loss . Terrible news for you and your family.
Have comfort that there’s someone across the World thinking of you. 🀝
Your Poem: so much in a few lines. Good one.

I remember the meditation teacher Rob Nairn saying forget about having a "quiet mind," simply wait until the thoughts just flow by!
