Notice of absence from arqios

What’s a decade here and there?
Perhaps a lot if you’re past 50.
People live longer these days, so
a spritely 70 is meant to be
acceptable, looked forward to.
If you get past the wrinkles
and the short term memory loss
remember to share your secret-
youth’s fountain is found in both
- the realm of heart and mind
Peace with self and adjusted life goals
gather round like-minded spirits
bring to the table what’s available
banish from thought what’s undesirable.
What’s a decade here and there?

- Comment from author about the poem: At an early age most of us can hardly wait to grow up and get older; but somewhere around that silver liningβ many of the same, it seems, would step on the brakes, and try to prolong the dregs of youth. But some do go βRoad Hogsβ and fly with the wind. In between these poles rises this poem.

For example, I can see a future in which everyone realizes that nuclear waste is inappropriate for final disposal sites and dumps it in the ocean, but will I find like-minded people?
I hope so. I keep telling myself that there are 8 billion people in the world and what are the odds of being like-minded? Perhaps that is the function of hope.
I see, it might be there somewhere.
This poem and principally its title left a feeling of care free. I live in the moment and so to me a decade is only seen retrospectively and it seems that it was only yesterday. A intriguing poem Cryptic
The moment is the only place where we are at. I guess that if we can be good within our present then the tendency is for tomorrow to take care of itself. At least this is how I conjecture it. Thanks kindly ππ»πποΈ
Gives me a sense of some one roaming free and not being restricted by the confines of time, another enjoyable read.
Many thanks. ππ» So glad this brings some enjoyment. πποΈ
You are very welcome
I am surrounded by young people. I wouldnβt want to go back, but neither do I want to fast forward. I no longer celebrate birthdays. Age is irrelevant. My inner child is still very much present. I have lost so many loved ones before their time, that I consider myself fortunate. The wrinkles, donβt bother me much, they tell me I have lived, my granddaughter helps choose my clothes, I try very much to live in the moment but need to work on it more. I donβt feel any different than I did decades ago. I am content with what I have got. Your poem arqios, made me take stock. We all need to do that from time to time to truly appreciate our blessings.
Blessings Cassie ππ» and thank you so much for sharing from your heart and life. ποΈ
Ah...I remember when youth drug...now time seems non-existent! LOL! Either way, it is the journey we are on and I find myself embracing it, removing my foot off of the gas or breaks and coasting! LOL! Of course, there are those extreme grade uphills and downhills! But hey, that's life! Wonderful write, my dear friend! Lots to think about. πΉπ
Sweet! The embracing part could get a bit tricky, midlife crisis and all that! So glad you mentioned that part of the journey. Thanks kindly. ππ»ππ»ποΈ
You are welcome!
I'm so very deeply sorry for your loss my mother was 64 my own brother was just 25 sometimes I write about it, you do well in your wisdom and advice in my case I didn't get to say goodbye to either of my special people, I guess we can call it living without the very thought that it would be the last time, it happens every time anyone says goodbye, and we should all be grateful that we have this life in the first place. sending love and hugs πΉ
Thanks Teddy. With my dad I missed the last call he ever made to me. We had so many good times before that during the time that he had 4 strokes. He even recovered his speech quite wonderfully. On mumβs side, they were younger;,two of my uncles were 50 and 52, another 19 an aunt 42, another 56, and her son 62 when they passed on. But bereavement seems unique with each case. And we are meant to carry on for them or in their memory.
It sure does and part of my grief was never getting to say goodbye. So very true every loss is different, I've also lost some very special friends very young. We have something very much in common, stay well dear poet. πΉ Many of my works are on this subject from my Raven collection for sure, helped me heal. π

With age comes wisdom. Perhaps one of the wisdoms is to live in the present. The numbers do not matter. The poem gave me a feeling of being carefree but with grace. Really enjoyed it
Yes , Grace! Nan used to say βAge with grace and dignity.β Thank you kindly ππ»ππ»ποΈ
Einstein said β I donβt think of the future, Iβll happen soon enoughβ.
Iβm more or less the same , Without the Mad Hair.
As always your Poems are very
βDeepβ and full of Meaning.
We all shoulder let our βmad hairβ loose once in a while! ππ»πππ»
I am now passed halfway through my seventh decade arqios and am still here living a wonderful life.
Andy
And that inspires many of the latest writes on the subject ππ»πππ»
i am over 70 now, and never felt the desire to put on the brakes and prolong my youth - enjoying life much more, and am glad of whatever life has given me
Now thatβs the kind of journey I want to be on and learn/hear about! Thanks for sharing ππ»ππ»ποΈ
it's beautiful, enlightening and great - if one learns from past mistakes, takes each day as it comes, and is grateful for each day that we are hale and healthy [despite minor ailments that come with age]
Wish you a beautiful day, and an exciting and great future
Nice One arqios
