Wilderness under a hood

LP2187

I lost my way

Following the path

Winding night and day

Away from dear hearth

Whistling strong

The wind held my breath

I stopped to throng

And catch my breath

A landscape of trees

Grass flooding the fields

Like warriors crafting seas

Of axes, swords and shields

The sun throbbed bright

Hanging over the horizon

A tasteful, golden light

Rays of such powerful vision

Like a wonderful mutiny

Long shadows being cast

A scene of horrifying beauty

Night approached fast

Desolate darkness so strange

The face of wilderness under a hood

The terrain began to change

But it wasn’t for the good

Fog drifted across the sky

Like hell-bound clouds above

The glades cracked dry

A war of evil against love

Birch wood shrivelled grey

As nature became a prey

Leaves withered to brown

Rain crashed and spewed down

Freezing into sleet and frost

All of the meadows were found to be lost

Sounds depressing. People can go to dark places sometimes.

I agree, even if they don't intend to, thanks.

It comes across to me as the contrasts of some one mind in that the day brings hope and sunshine, but the night brings the demons and fear, whatever it meant i really enjoyed the read, it is a lovely poem

Honestly I had no idea what I meant by the poem, random thoughts just came, I guess it's for the reader to interpret. But thank you very much!

Beautifully rendered with a subtle intrigue haunting its trail down the page, superb imagery tricking out the drama unfolding darkly to an almost heinous close whose poignancy grapples for the soul. Thank you very much for sharing!
