Condemned

sorenbarrett

Tangled wire hair, plastic skulls slump, empty promises
Old electric brain dump, a sign reading "place condemned"
Tied in hypnotic beds, lie cracked mirrors reflecting Adonises
Fractured holes, broken heads we no longer mend

Batteries bleed, evolutionary ancestor of solid state brains
Keys weeds breed, ancient technology brought to die
Worshiped discarded gods, decomposing remains
Graveyard sarcophagus pods, time frozen fossils evolved AI

Cold, heartless progeny birthed from the discarded
Sold as electric phylogeny no regard for the departed

Sounds like a description of KP! I am horrible to her! Awww. lol.
I rarely get the true meaning of anything 'hidden' in poems. In some cases I become offensive - 'Grr! No, I didn't meant that at all' is the reply. (lol)

    • sorenbarrett

Thanks Orchi appreciate the read and I guess that is the point none of us ever really do. Have a great day

Captured me entirely. As a child both being entirely fascinated and at once repulsed by leaking batteries, your imagery paints in the walls of the mind! A definite keeper in this poem. 🙏🏻🕊👍🏻

From a human perspective, it's a dystopia, but I wonder if it's possible to shine a light of hope even from there.

              • sorenbarrett

Hope is the last thing to die. Maybe in the future things and people will be more valued and the idea of discarding the old will turn to how to make better use of them but not until a consumer oriented economy transforms into something else

I see, I'm satisfied that I was able to get a deep insight.

the abandoned never truly disappears, does it?

                  • sorenbarrett

We are all abandoned in one way or another. Thanks for the read and comment. Have a great day

Reading this I could see a really lonely robot. Brilliant, we really are slaves to all this technology and social media, I truly fear for my Son who isn't even 12 yet. 🌹

The subject is very close to my heart. A fascinating poem, makes one question the path of progress on the rubble of the dead. Loved it!

Heartless progeny is the hinge all of this swings on. That, and it takes my daughter to explain technology to me now.

AI has become the ruination of mankind soren, we just do not talk to each other in person anymore.

                                Andy

Yes Andy and unfortunately I believe this is just the begining, it seems that we have traded our human birthright for a bowl of comfort porridge. Thanks so much for the read and kind understanding words
