My brother and I
Always fought a lot
How much I cried
He didn’t care or forgot
I hated him badly
Thinking he was the worst
But I’m realising sadly
That he was never cursed
Because at times
I really despised him
But writing these rhymes
Expressed my love within
I would have never had
Those such amazing moments
And I am extremely glad
That we made many atonements
We grew together and learnt loads
If it weren’t for him, I would be so different
After our journeys on the twisting roads
In my heart, he is forever significant
So now I’ll take him for granted
He doesn’t belong in any family but mine
He’s made my life so amazing and enchanted
My hate for him, I will try to undermine
I hope one day when we’re older
We’ll cherish each other and never forget
That we can finally be just sister and brother
As for my childhood, to him I’m in debt
My brother and I
Might have fought
But when it’s goodbye
I’ll remember what we wrought

Very touching. A dynamic of feeling and esteem in flux, which resonates between myself and my own siblings. Beautiful and true 🕊🙏🏻
Thank you very much
Most welcome 🙏🏻🕊👍🏻
A strong message that family is family, even thou at times of course you test that belief. A poem of a strong and loving bond, enjoyed the read
Thank you!
You are very welcome
Superb.
Thank you!
so true, we hate 'em, we love 'em, they're our siblings. you are very skilled with rhyme
Thank you very much
[I wondered after you posted this whether you'd seen mine on the same topic, but couldn't guess.] Yes siblings are treasures, despite the fact we don't always see eye to eye and can squabble like fierce enemies. Lovely and beautifully rendered with great imagery and a heartening poignancy, thank you for sharing.
I don't think I read one of your poems about the same thing, I looked for it but couldn't find it sorry. Thank you very much for your kind comment. Also I'm in the middle of writing my first sonnet which you kind of inspired me to write after I've read many of your sonnets!
It's in the first two pages since those early days here I'd either post what I'd most recently penned or else an old, old piece I wanted on here for readers.
