An Evening Out.

Goldfinch60

There she is this young lady

With whom I am going to dine,

Walking towards me

In her usual purposeful way.

We greet each other

With a loving hug.

We walk to the eatery

And order some food,

Thai this time.

As we eat, we talk.

We talk of many things.

Of her life,

Of mine,

Of families,

And friends.

We look back,

And as we look back

I find she has no regrets.

No problems with wrong decisions,

Just dismisses them without any fears.

As I near the end of my time on this world

We talk of her new life before her,

Her ambitions,

And where her future will be.

She has her plans,

They may be changed,

Changed by circumstances

That come into her life,

But she will deal with these

In her usual positive way.

We talk of music, art and poetry,

And agree that each is subjective

Within each of us.

We talk of her writing

And the joy she finds in it.

The time flies by,

The meal is finished

And we wonder where the time went,

But that is what it is like

When we meet,

Time seems suspended.

She is my Granddaughter,

But better than that,

She is my friend.

Erm, dinner via FaceTime or Skype? Not the same but carries it’s own weight. But that’s just me. Silly but bright idea πŸ’‘πŸ•ŠπŸ™πŸ»

Such a fine write. You mention she writes too? That is lovely. I am the only one in my family that writes stories and poems.

                • Goldfinch60

Thank you Tom, yes she does write as does my son and daughter, such a wonderful family.

That is so lovely, that you all write. My family members read my stories and come to watch me read my poems, but I am the only one who puts pen to paper. πŸ™‚
