The Echo of His Name

anjalisrisailam

I wish I hadn’t fallen for the trap of his gaze,

Hadn't drowned in the magic of his voice.

I wish I hadn’t paved his path with my waiting,

Hadn't lost myself in him — by choice.

I wish I hadn’t sought solace in his arms,

Hadn't surrendered to a fleeting embrace.

I wish he had been just a passing thought,

Not a habit I can’t seem to erase.

I wish his memories didn’t carve scars on my heart,

Didn’t linger like an endless ache.

I wish I could smile without needing him near,

And breathe — without love at stake.

I wish for peace, away from his name,

For freedom from this silent pain.

But these wishes, I know, are fleeting dreams,

Reality always pulls me back again.
