Remember when nascent love was on fire?
In an age lacking the cold northern wind?
The warm sensual spring’s daffodil bloomed—
Recalling when young love was a wildfire—
Transmuted into a blooming rosebud
Opening to the stamen’s gentle touch.
The hot sexual summer’s petals bloomed—
I recall when our love was a wildfire—
Your pistil awaiting our chance at life.
Transmuted into a blossomed rose bloom,
Wide open to my stamen’s strong, firm touch,
Recall when our love was a burning fire.
In your bedewed, exotic summer bloom,
Your pistil received our chance at a life.
That is when the cold northern wind came and
Reverted your bloom back into a bud.
Now mostly closed to my heart’s need to touch,
Remember when our love was a warm fire,
The warm spring’s sensitive daffodil bloomed?
Your pistil—my stamen—created lives.
What gorgeous lives they have turned out to be;
Yet, still, when the cold northern wind came and
Reverted you back into a shut bulb,
And closed you to my gentle lover’s touch.
The early sensitive flower unbloomed—
Yet, our pollination created lives.
Remember when love was a raging fire?
I truly love you and this life we’ve made;
What a gorgeous life it’s turned out to be.
But you’ve reverted back into a bulb,
And closed me from your gentle lover’s touch.
The early spring’s lone daffodil unbloomed;
Still, our pollination created lives.
I’ll always recall when our love was fire,
In a time without the cold northern wind.

A most sensual and errotic poem about flowers. The metaphor is strong and this well could be a song although it might be banned for its botanical sexual content. Loved the perfume of this poem
I would be honored if one of my poems got banned! 🤣 Thank you so much, Soren, for your time and feedback. Glad the poem delivered and you found the perfume to be pleasing! Much appreciated my friend.
You're right Tristan never felt better than when another site banned seven of my poems.
Indeed. Banning poems/books/art...it's always been a thing, and that sadly doesn't seem to be changing. Those must have been damn good poems! 🌹
Who knew that flower anatomy could deliver in such manner! We were just bantering in our friend group the other day about anthers and sepals, etc. As you can tell this has been thoroughly enjoyed. 🌷🙏🏻🕊👍🏻
Indeed, I am glad the blooms aroused your enjoyment, my friend! Thank you so much for your time and your feedback. Much appreciated, as always! 🙏❤️
a talent indeed Tristan.
Bravo my friend.
outstanding poetry!
Thank you so much, Melvin. Your feedback is appreciated, my friend! I am truly humbled and glad that the poem delivered. 🙏❤️
I'd have never given a thought to write sexually about flowers 😂😂😂 Very creative write!
Why, thank you, my friend! 🤣 It took me a little refreshing of my memory of high school bio (quite a while ago at this point) to get the flower's procreative anatomy correct. I am glad that the metaphor and the poem delivered. 🙏❤️
i'll say I remember learning nothing of the sorts! hahaha
Very sensual Tristen. The flower metaphor works very well. Who would have thought that the parts of a flower could be so sexy. Hot fiery love of youth before a cool breeze set in over time. Very well composed.
Indeed. So glad the poem and its metaphor delivered, Cassie! Thank you for reading and your astute analysis. Much appreciated! ❤️🙏
Excellent write Tristan
Thank you Tony! Much appreciated my friend! ❤️🙏
You're welcome Tristan
A really evocative poem of love as well as loss, I enjoyed the read!
Indeed. Thank you, my friend. I am glad that the poem delivered and I really appreciate your astute analysis. Much appreciated! ❤️🙏
You're very welcome!
Whoa! I've thought of that angle when tending a huge flower garden years ago and watching those almost exotic ladies offer themselves. How superbly handled and with such ease to boot! My la! I so love this pretty number! Gorgeously rendered with exquisite imagery and a passionate poignancy, thank you so much for sharing!
You are welcome, my dear friend! It's awesome to know you've thought of flowers this way as well. I knew the emotion I wanted to convey, and once the flower idea came to me, I ran with it. Took a little bit of refamiliarizing myself with all those things I learned back in high school bio all those years ago. All those things that, back then, I am sure I questioned, "What will I ever need to know this for?" Sigh. If my bio teacher could see me now. 🤣 Anywho, thank you so much Missy for your time and your analysis. Much appreciated! ❤️🙏
Tremendous work.
