The sunflower

NafisaSB

In the lush green landscape

Rose a tiny blob of yellow

So bright and so beautiful

So soft and so mellow

The harbinger of spring

Small and yet so brave

Opened up its petals

To share a tiny wave

Gathering up their strength

Others followed suit

Soon a thousand sunflowers

Bloomed on taking root

It’s the first who leads the way

And inspires sisters and brothers

So let’s learn from the sunflower

And inspire a few others

Totally inspiring! One of my all time favourite blooms!

    • NafisaSB

i agree - so small and yet so inspirational [have seen giant sunflowers too, and that's another story of how they lean against each other when there's no sun to lend support to each other] so classifies itself as a wonderful flower

      • arqios

Yeah, the giant ones are like guardians of the sunshine

          SO TRUE

A single voice can cause a major change. The power of one is often underestimated. Lovely

          • NafisaSB

so true - we never realize what a single soul can do - both for good or not -so yes, we always underestimate the power of one as you have rightly put it.
thanks a ton for the feedback

It is said that the sunflower follows the trajectory of the sun across the sky. Also, it is claimed that, upon sunset, the sunflower turns completely to face sunrise, awaiting for the next sunrise.
A field of sunflowers must be an impressive sight. The seeds are used to produce sunflower oil.
β€œWhat does a sunflower symbolise? Sunflowers symbolise loyalty, adoration thanks to the myth of Clytie and Apollo. And, because of their association with the sun, sunflowers are well-known for being a happy flower and the perfect bloom for a summer flower delivery to brighten someone's mood! β€œ

β€œIn the morning, all the sunflowers will face east, the direction of the rising sun. As the sun moves, so will the sunflower heads to follow it. But as summer turns to autumn and the sunflowers get big and ripe and heavy with seeds, they will stop moving. Until they are harvested, they will face only east.12 Oct 2021”

thank you so much for the extensive research and write up. one more quality i admire about them is that when there is no sunlight they turn towards each other to lend support and strength. we have definitely so much to learn from these sunny flowers.
