The clang of steel upon steel
As swords clash
The twang of arrows sent from their bows
To attack the enemy lines
30 days have past
Since this war began
How much longer
How much more
Can the men take
Bloodshed left and right
A little from both sides
They thought they could invade
They were wrong
Sent from the evil wizard up on the hill
Sent to destroy
Sent to plunder
But ultimately Sent to die
Through blood, sweat, and tears we have fought
Hope the battle ends soon
I'm about to drop

Wow. I loved reading this. A powerful piece about the harshness of battle.
Thank you
You’re welcome
Life is a battle and one we are forced to fight every day. It is hard to maintain the energy to continue. Good write Tony
Thank you
My friend, I can't help but see a brilliant metaphor in this poem for what is about to change in our country, our world. Everything you say rips at my heart, for I know we will be fighting battles far into the future, against an enemy driven by deceipt and greed, whose aim is to divide and conquer. The weapon of choice for this enemy is not the traditional armory of war, but to manipulate, spread doubt and confusion, to create chaos to succeed . Sorry for the rant, but the day before this inaugration I'm feeling an overwheling apprehension, and dread for the day after it. Thank you my friend for putting it into words.
Thank you
