We were sat beneath the stars when you turned to me to say,
'Let's run away'
“Let's run away to a small town or a hidden beach,
Listen to music with sand at our feet,
Swaying carelessly to the beat.
Well have the breeze in our hair,
Talk and laugh about joining a travellers fair and living as recklessly as we dare.
Leaving our pasts behind us and our futures bare.
Let's run away on a boat,
Watching our problems being left behind us as we float
Jotting down our adventures on post-it notes, whispering about our dream house on an abandoned island surrounded by a moat
Let's just run away,
Even if it's just in our dreams that we stay”

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this in a time where I was depressed, it felt like I had the weight of the world put upon me and I’d have done anything to runaway from it all.
