A Bit of Mischief for "Flavour"?!

Cheeky Missy

There's the gleeful thought which began this, and the check in my spirit halfway through, and what's left to add?

Alas, I'm Having TOO Much Fun?

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMXCVIII)

Fun. Die of boredom, or else throw from thence
A private party like the lone detail
Is an indulgence just'fied? To avail
Me, far from home and ease, is what fr'intents?
Oh, but tis fun. Not petit fours, yet hence
Half like it, fresh hot cocoa likeas bail,
The "travel" paring knife and Zesta, frail
As aught excuse, tis somewhat like defense.
Av'cado on a cracker, salted too,
And we are rolling. Take some notes fer
Poster'ty is't? to ill'strate all unto
Just whom? And scribble down the féte in tour
Like that is grand, to find the spirit's poor.
I may rejoice, but LORD, how I need You.

Cite the subzero temperatures and even snow, but I swear, the light is Spring's dear eye.

Oh, But I Can Breathe Once Again

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMXCIX)

It was ne faux joy: Spring eyes aught detail
With knowing light, til hope winks with a sense
T'will not be long ere life rejoices thence
In its fresh lease, who waited but t'avail
These long and dreary months we'd oft bewail,
To once again waltz from each bough, and fence
The hours with singing from aught limb, keen scents
In tow as romance woos with love for bail.
Come, let no hearts be faint, although in tour
We are besieged on ev'ry side. See blue
Heavns, not so distant, know what is astir,
And how buds 'gin t'emerge as if life'd cue
Ere we had thought to look. Oh LORD, in Your
Light we see light, and by Thee, wait on You.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Why the thought to illustrate my sense of having fun despite aught to the contrary seemed too irresistible, I can only think to blame the horrendous lack of sleep this past week entailed. Enjoy?

Great work. I love what you do with these sonnets.

    • Cheeky Missy

Aww, thank you very much, you're too kind, Sir.

Once again the mention of food has raised my hunger. A fun read

Another poem that leads me to fridge surf! And, viola, half an avocado! Unfortunately did not have a cracker, but toast and salt did do! 🤣 Really enjoyed these, Missy! ❤️🙏

      • Cheeky Missy

Ooh yummy! My late daddy used to take the prized avocado along with the butter dish, a pack of Zesta, and the salt dispenser to the dining table too many years ago and almost reverently remove the flesh from the shell and carefully place a pat of cold butter on the saltine, top that with a chunk of avocado, and salt it to taste, serving it up on a platter passed around the huge table for each of us eight others to enjoy. Those were the days. Methinks you grabbed the next best and joined me as it were in the indulgence! Thank you very, very much for both commenting and also joining me as it were!

I sure did! You are welcome, my friend...or, more properly, thank you! 😊

          So you have a thing
          For spring?!

          • Cheeky Missy

Yes, I do. That is, until Summer shows up again. Thank you very much for asking and commenting, good Sir! Too fun!

              And then Autumn breezes in!

              • Cheeky Missy

Yep! [And Autumn is my favorite season of all!]

Nicely done, Missy. You always make me smile. Fine pieces. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much, Tom! Wonderful to see you back in excellent form with such lovely numbers for our indulgence.

I like em both .. but then I invariably do .. it seems we share the same or very similar tastes Missy .. I love a bit o mischief too .. I just gotta quit salivating before I open your page .. I'm beginning to feel like one of Pavlova's dogs .. and I think I've become classically conditioned by my anticipation of spring .. Neville

I'm afeared today's first sonnet will punish you afresh where you're learning I'll serve up stanzas to whet the appetite to effect. That's too cool and too fun we think similarly. You make me smile. Thank you again very much!
