Where are you?
1/12/2025 1204
Where are you when I need you most?
Sitting in the dark of night
Watching trees go by on my way to the hills
Eating a meal that just doesn’t fill
WHere were you?
Where are you when I want your eyes?
Graduating high school, your eyes not there
Heading off to college, your eyes not there
Learning to drive, your eyes not there
Where were you?
Where are you when I need your voice?
Sobbing after my first heartbreak
Taking a walk to the park with the geese
Cooking in the kitchen listening to music
Where were you?
Where are you when I need your smile?
After a wholesome movie up at AMC
On a facetime call when I’m far away
At a concert with my hands held high
Where were you?
Where are you when I need your presence?
When I took my first steps
When I said my first words
When I sobbed my first tears because of your absence
Where were you?
None of this is how I thought it would be
Bodies unfill your presence in my life
There's still an empty seat in the crowd
With a name tag, an anonymous name tag

A touching and emotionally charged piece of writing, asking all the questions that you ask in the absence of a birth mother, i hope one day you find some answers. Well written
So sorry that this is your reality, Olive. But wow, you have poignantly penned this! A hauntingly, tragically beautiful poem that speaks truth. Thank you for sharing. Well done! 🌹👏
Excellent write
