Meek Musings

orchidee

Tune: Abridge

('Be thou my guardian and my guide')

Psalm 37 v.8-11

*********

Cease from anger, and wrath forsake

And humility take

Fret not yourself to do evil

Trust the Lord, on Him call

For evildoers they shall sure

Be cut off, be no more

But those that wait upon the Lord

It shall be as His word

His word that they shall inherit

The earth whole in each whit

For yet a little while, and see

Wicked ones shall not be

But the meek it is they who shall

Inherit the earth well

Shall delight themselves in great peace

Abundance shall not cease

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. Somehow the meek ARE going to inherit the earth, though there are the evil and wicked in it now, with their selfishness, greed, pride, etc. I'm repeating video clips sometimes now also, but aiming to find different ones.

A great snippet from the sermon on the mount. To inherit the word would be to inherit God and whatever that would mean. A great write Orchi

Thank you SB. Yes, from sermon on the Mount (new Testament), and in this case from the Psalms (Old Testament).

if it exists & the reference to the meek and their eventual destination and inheritance is correct, then I can think of a few folk who aint going anywhere near heaven .. Thanks for making me think on such lines Orchidee .. Neville

Thank you N. From what I can see here, the wicked are going to be cut orf (or destroyed: a Bible margin reference notes). So they won't be around to scoff, or ridicule, as in 'It's laughable to say the MEEK will inherit the earth, when it's all ours (for now)\'

It's a mystery. But we who have faith in God understand that God will one day flip this world's order on its head...no more sin, no more evil, no more wickedness, pride, selfishness, death, decay...Gone. That doesn't mean we sit back on our laurels, have mai tais, and wait for that to happen, but we are expected to play our part in manifesting that reality. A well-written, hymn-poem, Orchi!

Thanks T. But I was just gonna sit back and have a cuppa! lol. But as you say - not to get too cosy.

Hopefully in time the meek will inherit the earth but not in the current situation.
