Tune: Lasst Uns Erfreuen = Let us Rejoice
('All creatures of our God and King')
Psalm 96 v.1-7
*********
O sing to the Lord a new song
Sing unto the Lord all day long
Alleluia, Alleluia!
All the earth praise Him, bless His name
Show forth His salvation, His fame
He Creator of wild and tame
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Declare His glory here among
The heathen, and let songs be sung
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Proclaim His wonders midst people
For the Lord is great, above all
Greatly to be praised, on Him call
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
He is to be feared, for idols
Are gods of the nations, each falls
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Before the Lord, but He has made
The heavens and the earth displayed
They by His good hand are arrayed
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Honour and majesty they are
Before Him, strength, beauty not far
Alleluia, Alleluia!
From Him, but in His sanctuary
Give to the Lord peoples freely
Glory and strength ever, so be
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8.8. with Alleluias - 20 of them here! Sometimes the penultimate live of each verse is replaced with 2 more Alleluias to each verse. I've chosen an ancient hymn again, as it was originally written 800 years ago by St Francis of Assisi in 1225.

Thank you A.
Youβre welcome O ππ»πππ»
Another great hymn. It is most interesting to me that anciently fear was such a way of following one in power, more lately we have pushed the idea of respect, wouldn't love be a better motivator to follow someone or God?
Thank you SB. I think 'fear' means, maybe in an old sense of the word, 'awe, respect, reverence'. Yes, I would say too that love is a better motivator. This comes across more with Jesus and the New Testament days - which we're in now too. In Old Testament days they had to deal with 'raw God' at times, when 'fear' could sometimes mean 'dread, terror, trembling'.
Beautiful
Thank you Tony.
You're welcome

Thank y'all Thad! Ohh, a thousand Alleluias! Or could they be Hallelujahs or Halleluyahs, even Halle-ya'lls? lol.
