Confident Calling

Tune: University College

('Oft in danger, oft in woe')

Psalm 119 v.145-149

**********

I called with my whole heart to

The Lord, hear me, hear me do

I will keep your statutes here

I prayed, save me, to me near

And I your testimonies

Shall keep, this my soul agrees

I rose before dawning day

To call on you, watch and pray

I called for help unto you

Hoping in your word, it true

And am awake in the night

Meditate on your words light

Hear my voice, Lord, me revive

Longing for you I do strive

You, Lord, show loving kindness

Save me, do justice, me bless

Another beautiful hymn Orchi. Tell me Orchi why it seems that most hymns come from the Old vs the New Testement.

Thank you SB. Maybe it's simply because the Psalms are in the Old Testament. It was (still is?) the Jews 'hymn-book'.

A beautiful and heartfelt expression of faith and devotion. It's amazing!

Wonderfully conveyed Orchi. Your faith shines through. Final stanza especially lovely. Have a great weekend.

Thank you C. I don't know if this is me always. I've picked up the Psalmist's words of this, which runs to 176 verses, you may know!

Excellent write, Orchi! Though, I have to admit, I'm waiting for you to tackle Psalm 137 🀣. Horror psalms! 😱 All daftness aside, my friend, I thoroughly enjoyed! πŸŒΉπŸ‘

Thank you T. I know the bit you mean, especially at the end of that Psalm. It would be a lament-type of Psalm. Yet it seems the people were only requesting the same as what their enemies did to them - child murderers and other horrors!

Yup...and if my enemies did that to my babies...who can blame them? Raw and honest to say the very least! You're welcome, my friend!

Meanwhile - cooooeeee!!! I'm calling! lol. (a quaint way of saying Hi in England). Do you say 'cooeee' in USA?

                    • Tristan Robert Lange

No...can't say we do...but I will start making it a thing and watch people stare at me like I am the Toxic Avenger! LOL!

Are you in the part of USA that says 'y'all'?! lol.

Not technically, I live in the Northeast. We're too frozen for warm, melded words! LOL! That said, people pretty much say that everywhere now...but not widespread where I am. β€οΈπŸ™
