Behind the blink
Cooling my feet off in the waters waves,
thinking of those last seen in their graves.
Wanting another laugh with them to share,
across the lake watching, blankly I stare.
Distant clouds shaping as they appear,
picturing them sitting next to me so near.
Thinking back to when we conversed so well,
the stories to one another we did tell.
Wet footed and contemplating past days,
thinking of the moments that slipped away.
The confliction behind each heavy blink,
wet footed I sit alone and blindly think.
Rippling waves slapping and petting the land,
remembering that day, that day in the sand.
Red, black, brown and the color of death,
the breeze whispering their dying breaths.
Remembering the yells and screams I heard,
watching the majestically swooping bird.
Talons aimed at an under surfaced meal,
while I sit here watching, trying to heal.
Reality and these other things I think,
the confliction living behind each blink.

A great write of thoughts and time and the distortion as well as missing parts of a continuation. Loved it
