Carpe diem without conscience

sorenbarrett

Stimulant driven off the carcass of fear liven'
Trimmed all gristle and fat, always lived on the edge
Atheistic  prayer shriven always forgiven
Carefree I walk the ledge

Run amok but never got stuck
Hanging over the edge, I would stop
Relying on luck not pluck
Time after time came out on top

Pushed the limits, lived in the minutes
Broke rules and tested all boundaries
Cut fine the seconds as temptation beckons
Foolishness forged in life's foundries

Borrowed to buy on tomorrow's money did rely
Never paid my debts or crime
Live on the edge of a lie, never believed I'd die
Thought I'd exist till the end of time

Living for today, as much as we may wish too, there hopefully will be a tomorrow so being cautious of what we do is a must some don't have that and live on the edge always, I've lived both, I took a massive gamble with nothing to lose and I gained, yet not always the case. A brilliant peice of poetry dearest sorrenbarret that will.make many reflect on your lines. 🌹 Wonderful title too. 🌹

Thank you Teddy far better to take a gamble and loose than to never live at all. Most people are far too comfortable and afraid, if you have nothing to loose you are free to live. Appreciate you read and comment

Our freedom needs to be exercised and stood up for. No one ever pioneered nor thrived sitting down. A thesis well taken in this poem. 🙏🏻🕊️

I like this, "Living on Edge," Soren. Your poem masterfully captures the thrill and uncertainty of living on edge, highlighting the dynamic interplay between the pursuit of freedom and the recognition of life's preciousness. It powerfully reflects on existence, mortality, and the choices that shape our lives, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of human experience.

Doh! I spent so long finding out what Carpe Diem meant, that by the time I found out it was night time, and no day left to seize! These things happen - or am I telling porkies?!

My Dad and both my brothers pushed boundaries, were talented in business, reckless in approach at times and two of them died young. They certainly lived for the day. The women in the family were far more cautious. This writing really makes one look inwardly and reflect on their own experiences. I am not a gambler in any way:) maybe I learned lessons. Great read Soren.

                    • Tristan Robert Lange

This is relatable on many levels. Living is a risky business, and yet we often ignore that fact. Nothing is guaranteed. What is really, truly known? And yet, the risk doesn't go away by staying stagnant in one place. So, we might as well intentionally risk living life and let the journey be our home. That is what I get out of this...that and the last line, so true. I think we all live like we will never die. It's a wonderful poem, and all around profound on this one! ❤️🙏

Wanting to exist until the end of time is our secret wish, isn't it? It has been demonstrated to us that this can be a living reality - if we are prepared to pay the price of entry!
                            Great write, Soren.

To truly take no thought for tomorrow is a tremendous gift.
