Turbulence

Tristan Robert Lange

Sitting in the titanic terminal,
The circus city in vaporous view,
I long for a compelling connection
Anything that is tremendously true.

I am a jet plane on frivolous flight—
Soaring shakily through the midnight sky—
A new moon memorandum of distance
Completely confuses where I’m to fly.

I can’t see if there is lush land below.
I cannot discover the deadly drops—
The anxious air becomes great turbulence—
There aren’t any visible landing stops.

The placating pilots will never land,
For they are busy bussing me nowhere.
This torturous trip takes me to the pit—
A callous connection too great to bear.

What a great metaphor. Our mind flies from place to place often through dangerous thoughts and there is no landing with some thoughts only a crash. Nicely done

Hope your to and from from your holiday was turbulence free... and that you are just using this as a symbol/metaphor! Good to have you back here at MPS🙏🏻🕊️

Indeed, arqios, my to and from was very much turbulence free. I wrote this sitting at the gate awaiting my flight. Thankfully, this metaphor did not become prescient of my flight experience! I am so glad the metaphor and poem delivered and it is good to be back for sure! ❤️🙏

A gruesome metaphor is the best if it remains as such and no more!

                          Truth!

Doesn't sound like someone enjoys flying, at this rate. Fascinating and rather intriguing, beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.
