Ode To Bobby D'

Kurt Philip Behm

The minute I say

what it means to me

It will never mean

something different to you

Words are like highways

they begin and they end

You can get on and get off

where you choose

If I tell you the mile marker

I travel the most

You may miss one

I still haven’t seen

If I break it apart

and then spell it all out

There’s no mileage left

— to wander and dream

A beautiful ode to a wonderful man and I will miss him.

    • Kurt Philip Behm

Thanks, but Dylan is still around.

Indeed he is but to my knowledge he is no longer putting out much music and that that he does is not so brave as that he did in the sixties before his life was threatened and his style changed. His last "Murder most foul" an exception but long after the danger had passed. A most wonderful poet he has been.

An easy fave, Kurt. This one is profoundly true. So deep and yet profoundly simple, much like the man himself! 🌹👏 A wonderful Ode to Dylan. Btw, I saw "A Complete Unknown". A wonderful telling of his career. Well done, my friend!

I saw that also and truly enjoyed it. I saw him 'way back' in the Village at The Bitter End.
His outlook on the creative arts mirrors mine.

If he had not 'gone electric,' he would never have turned into the force he is today.

Bob never wanted to be the so-called 'Voice of his Generation.' He wanted his songs to
          inspire others to become that.

Like all great artists, it's impossible to define him and put him in a box. History will continue
to increase the height of his mountain.

Absolutely! An artistic visionary. I agree about his musical direction too. People too often want to put an artist into a box, to have some sort of control or predictability over what they produce. True artists cannot be contained, in my opinion. Bob is a perfect example.
