So, Yeah, I Think Who Covered That

Cheeky Missy

...you know what I mean.

Don't Give Me That Look

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCXL)

The morrow Valentines, I've all fr'intents
Collected, jist no lover. We'll avail
Us like in childhood, if the LORD will, frail
As such days being long perished, like pretense'
Vain promise time would shatter sans defense;
My friend's jest on the theme last Monday stale,
A half used bag of sugar wrapped to scale
In red and white "for Valentines!" like, whence?
I should grow up, I guess. What is, in poor
'Scuse, ev'ry hol'day they taught us to do
In style, if all's a dirty joke nor true?
What were we s'posed to know? Shall I bestir
The usual and be guilty? Hearts as t'were
With "I love yous" but candy, LORD, where to?

...don't contradict me, please.

Yes, I Look Very Innocent

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCXLI)

If I'd contend with Spring oer snow's detail,
I know that Feb'ry would reply from thence
And trounce aught arguments as lacking sense,
Whilst I am but a child still learning. Hail
Blue violets sooner?! Come now, which strange trail
Is that yer on, my dear? Oh, where's defense?
And what is Spring, that Shakespeare wrote from hence
To call May "Summer"? How'll I not bewail?
Did I hate Winter? Or was't snow in tour
I'd dread? Define the seasons 'gain. I knew
But what my elders taught me. Lies as t'were
Set me to flound'ring, then I found what's true,
Yet I'm mixt up. Spring's icy, yet'd bestir
The trees to budding as birds sing...snows too.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Methinks I've enjoyed this year's Valentines Day a tad more than usual thanks to what? Acknowledging it's a lost cause and I'll never be cherished thus, whence I'll just have fun?! Enjoy?!

    Beautiful! Simply beautiful Chic

Two wonderful sonnets Missy but the second one about the mixed up season, will stay with me. No sign of spring here, cold and not a single snowdrop in my garden. However, no threats of snow. Beautiful compositions.

Thank you very, very much, dear Cassie! It is indeed a learning experience for me who believed as we were all taught to recognize Spring by gentler motions, yet all my research proves that assessment false, whence I'm revamping that perspective for what is unavoidably in our faces. Thank you again!

Oh, as my sibling teased me and sensibly noted, I addressed his box correctly and mine in silly fashion which yet allowed me to give it to him as well. Thank you for dropping by and for your lovely comment.

Sometimes it makes one wonder why Valentines is celebrated in the last depths of Winter. Only because Spring seems to be an obvious choice. Either way it really is a non-issue. Just a random thought. 🙏🏻🕊

According to the research your post on the day itself set me to, one of the reasons for the holiday at the beginning of Spring was the lovebirds courting at that early hour of the season, which notice only added fuel to the late discovery and acknowledgement of the true seasons, more or less. Thank you very much!

Ah, now that is quite a revelation! 🙏🏻🕊
