Smoked

Mutley Ravishes

You can be sure

I am stored

Behind your kidneys'

Water doors

Open them too wide

Body going dry

The fires of passion

Evaporation

Who's inhaling

The smoke?

Maybe you don't wanna know

Ah the metaphor in this one goes deeper than the kidneys. Yes indeed who is inhaling the smoke?

    • Mutley Ravishes

It sure does! And I wasn’t intending to leave the physical kidneys completely out of the picture.
      Thanks for dropping by.

      I am.

      • Mutley Ravishes

Haha! Well, yes. Along with some “uninvited” guests.

There's no Canaanite behind the wall.

          • Mutley Ravishes

            That's an intriguing reply! I don't understand.....

It's probably me, enjoyed the read

Well, perhaps it depends on who we think this “me” is?!

The last line makes it sound like we might already know. A well-written metaphor that goes far deeper than the human renal system. And I love the fact that "inhaling" is used along with kidneys. Inhaling = lungs not kidneys...yet it makes perfect sense because the inhalation of smoke doesn't just kill the lungs, now does it? The body is all connected. Again, brilliant metaphor, my friend.

Thanks for commenting. I enjoy your takes on the rhymes, helping me to see things from a different, often unseen angle. It's much appreciated!
Yes, we might already know and avoid facing up to it. Maybe because we're not ready to see and deal with it. Am I ready? Well, not for the Minotaur! One day at a time....

                • Tristan Robert Lange

Indeed. Not sure I am ready for the Minotaur, either. Whew, I barely survived what I believe was a sinus infection. All jokes aside, you are most welcome, my friend! One day at a time indeed!
