Notice of absence from arqios

a queen of not so long ago
said to a queen of yesterday
move aside, you're in my way
to which she swished her train
the other stood as frozen rain
and neither did a foothold gain

There were dreadful days of Mary I. She and Henry VIII were murderers. Now that's no way to treat our mother-in-laws! lol.
Always fascinated me, he was my dadβs idol. Still canβt figure out why and as for Bloody Mary, even the drink fails to allure. ππ»π
Killing off one wife is bad enough, but two?!
Just buy them more stuff and keep them happyβ¦ thereβs enough life to go aroundππ»π
kneel down, stand firm, hold fast & with that, she promptly breathed her last .. history is full of such woe .. ππ
As sure as the raven crows. Thanks kindlyππ»π
Reminds me of the Tudor period in our history books. A brutal time, and as for Henry VIII, a right royal bar steward. An absolute tyrant and so religious !! Said his prayers all the time. I am assuming 2016 was the year you wrote this poem arqios? Or does it refer to something else.
oh indeed, Cassie, it made its first rounds that year. ππ»π
Pride and obstinacy together make for an immovable object as well as an irresistible force when meeting they go nowhere. A well worded and beautifully painted image in this very short piece.
Very short indeed although a clash of wills such as this may very well span complete lifetimes and even transform into feuds that lasts for centuries. ππ»π
This is an interesting poem.It leaves me wanting to know more.
Me too! ππ»π
A reminder of our murderous past, how we have changed over time!!!, enjoyed the read
Thanks kindly. And looking around us these days, some things havenβt changed much, if at allβ¦ but thatβs material for another poem, or twoβ¦ ππ»π
You are very welcome
Fantastic.
Thanks Thomas, most appreciated ππ»π
Nicely done. Love the way this rhymes.
Sometimes rhyme is the way to go. Thanks Tom, so good to knowπππ»
Ah...the game of kings and queens...where anyone could find out they're pawn. Well done on this my friend. It had a real classic ring to it, too. Loved it. πΉπ
Thanks Tristan, when the situations get tight and tense, we realise how power dynamics are real in any eraπππ»
For sure. You are most welcome, my friend!
Hmm. Esoteric, eh? A riddle for our indulgence. I could swear that's virtually an image of "the British Josiah," but since I can't prove it...? Fascinating and excellently rendered with gorgeous imagery and a tantalizing, damning poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.
Indeed! Thanks kindlyππ»π
history is full of such tales- thanks for reviving my interest in it - had read about it
And it also operates in our contemporary world, thank you kindly πππ»
