a royal pain

arqios

Notice of absence from arqios
๐Ÿ•Š ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

a queen of not so long ago
said to a queen of yesterday
move aside, you're in my way
to which she swished her train
the other stood as frozen rain
and neither did a foothold gain

There were dreadful days of Mary I. She and Henry VIII were murderers. Now that's no way to treat our mother-in-laws! lol.

Always fascinated me, he was my dadโ€™s idol. Still canโ€™t figure out why and as for Bloody Mary, even the drink fails to allure. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Killing off one wife is bad enough, but two?!

kneel down, stand firm, hold fast & with that, she promptly breathed her last .. history is full of such woe .. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‘

Reminds me of the Tudor period in our history books. A brutal time, and as for Henry VIII, a right royal bar steward. An absolute tyrant and so religious !! Said his prayers all the time. I am assuming 2016 was the year you wrote this poem arqios? Or does it refer to something else.

oh indeed, Cassie, it made its first rounds that year. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Pride and obstinacy together make for an immovable object as well as an irresistible force when meeting they go nowhere. A well worded and beautifully painted image in this very short piece.

              • arqios

Very short indeed although a clash of wills such as this may very well span complete lifetimes and even transform into feuds that lasts for centuries. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

A reminder of our murderous past, how we have changed over time!!!, enjoyed the read

Thanks kindly. And looking around us these days, some things havenโ€™t changed much, if at allโ€ฆ but thatโ€™s material for another poem, or twoโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•Š

Nicely done. Love the way this rhymes.

Ah...the game of kings and queens...where anyone could find out they're pawn. Well done on this my friend. It had a real classic ring to it, too. Loved it. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‘

Hmm. Esoteric, eh? A riddle for our indulgence. I could swear that's virtually an image of "the British Josiah," but since I can't prove it...? Fascinating and excellently rendered with gorgeous imagery and a tantalizing, damning poignancy. Thank you very much for sharing.
