Haiku from Taroudant Morocco

High walls of brown clay

Remnants of an old empire

Spot for a selfie

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this while I was teaching in Taroudant, Morocco. I had the chance to tour the city walls of Taroudant. I found myself reflecting upon our modern treatment of history. The feeling of " wow , this is so cool. Large brown walls. This used to be part of an empire. Lets take a selfie".

Marvellous! That brings it all together when history and personal journey collides: “I came. I saw. I selfied.” 🙏🏻🕊

Superficial shallow and stupid don't begin to describe....
    A 5-7-5 with a real message.
