Looking Glass

MrNobody40

I listen for sounds of night
Of familiarity
I listen for my thoughts
I fear I have nothing to give
My fear is the face that constantly betrays
That, when I look in the mirror
Stares back as I turn away
Im so used to you
That I no longer look
Once upon a time
I peered over the edge
I closed my eyes, and I fell
But your face was gone
Silent when you let me go
I fear I have nothing to give
But I don't fear you,
The faceless god in a looking glass

A poem with so many familiar feelings in it. It evokes a sense of life that just goes on and gets away somehow. Very nicely written
