Authentically me

I’m not beautiful or rich , nor do I want to be
I want to be myself and authentically me,
I don’t put on a show to be someone I’m not
I’m a living breathing being and not some industrial robot,
I know who I am and where my heart truly lays
I’m as real as it gets and will not hesitate to part ways
I’ve been accused of being evil and of manufacturing lies,
I have no reason to be these things and know on whom I can rely ,
If I’m wronged in any way , I will not hesitate
To pick up and start again, I will end any debate
I am a strong confident woman, though there are those that will disagree,
Those are the ones that don’t know that I am authentically me,
If I'm not respected I will not hesitate to pick up and go,
Anywhere my God leads me down this long and dusty road
When I get to where I’m going , it will be with beauty and grace
Because I know in my heart that I can look every path I’ve crossed in their face
I have nothing to be ashamed of and I am proud of who I am meant to be
I will continue through this life being authentically me

Even as I face those who do not want to accept me
I will still hold on to who I am
Because that is truly who I am my mirror of life
With or without reflection of others

I treat them with respect
And help if I can
Sometimes they don't care

Who do we please?
