Missing Person
I went for a walk one day
So many sights along the way
I must have lost track of time
I walked way past my prime
Found myself, I knew not where
So many people I didn’t know there
All of them calling out my name
This was such a scary frame
People talking in words I couldn’t understand
As they reached out, trying to take me by the hand
Where were these strangers trying to take me to
I just wanted to go home, That’s all I wanted to do
Just a simple walk away from everything I knew
A dreadful disease, they have a name for it too
But everything seems so hard to find
Since that day I walked right out of my mind

- Comment from author about the poem: Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders have taken too many from among us. It’s so tragic to look into hollow eyes and see the remnants and pieces of the person you once knew. This poem is in honor of one of the missing persons in my life.

We recently had an old lady close by, who went missing for three days after going for a walk. Thankfully she was found safe, but many aren’t. Such a tragic disease and you have penned it so well. The confusion is so upsetting. I see it in my aunt. I enjoyed reading you today. You honor that missing loved one with your words. A touching write.
Cassie,
Thank you for reading. So sorry for what your Aunt is going through. Thoughts and prayers for you all. It is a different kind of pain to have to suffer thru for sure. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words.
A very touching write of what are horrible illnesses and are talked about enough, well expressed feeling in the write
Tobani,
Thank you so much for your words. As always, much appreciated.
You are very welcome
So well written. This poem takes a person on a walk through the disease. Short but effective it is well rhymed and well told. Very nice
Thank You, Soren. Our world can be both cruel and beautiful all at the same time. Your thoughts and words are so valued and appreciated.
