Dear, Dear Hump Day, What Was That Again?

Cheeky Missy

...Wednesday.

I Guess They Called This

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCLXXI)

Sweet rainy morn, how droplets bead off, pale
Light dim with that note for the calm suspense
Which seems a distant rel'tive, lost since thence
Twas known as Winter was't? Yet how all hail
Once I am home, from black-capped chick-dees' frail
And breathy call to card'nals, songs flit hence
Across the face of day like April's sense
Is late installed and would anon prevail.
My car washed 'fore I get back, put in tour
The kettle on for Barry's, lazing through
These hours like nary sleep is not so poor?
Beef bacon for our fried eggs, porridge too
In tow, sliced apple tops that off as t'were.
I'll go to sleep just 'fore tonight's shift? Ooh.

...I hung out forever, showering late.

Pink Was For Cynthia to Wear

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCLXXII)

No buck on guard, a doe leaps lightly hence
Within my headlights whilst who's on the trail
And humps off, passing through? Should I avail
Me of hot choc'late? or's too warm? what thence?
How Cynthya calls just after midnight, whence
Discuss the cats within the shelter, frail
And scared, yet so cute too; with catnip they'll
Be friends and learn to trust her in defense.
Where rain was but a tease in lieu as t'were
Of dawn, how after nightfall, driving to
My post, tis half mair real. Spring is astir
On ev'ry side and sweetly tricks anew
The hours out with soft joys, where life's astir
And proving hope was truly, LORD, of You.

...the intial thought tantalizing, it lost itself herein.

Come, Let Me Wander In the Shadows

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCLXXIII)

Mists haunt the streetlights with that thicker veil
Whose essence, likeas ghosts, seems in a sense
Alive, for whether sifting 'cross fr'intents
The highway, or assaulting 'long the trail
Aught who'd pass through, what is't that would avail
Us of both romance and mystique, whilst thence
Being like a thing with eyes; and ist pretense
Tis ver'ly like a being? Thus fog'd prevail.
Pink tinges thoughts of morning as in tour
I'm getting back home from last night, the view
Delicious in its rainy aspect; were
There else, what is't? So revel, traffic through
Such joys no matter in its slowness, poor
As fretting where mists haunt. LORD, we wait You.

I guess.

Oh, Now We Kin Have Fun

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCLXXIV)

Winds bluster through the naked trees as hence
Light comes and goes in playful fashion, frail
Then golden, drawing shadows up t'avail
Spring's hours, where singing is the rule from thence,
And I could look on such forever, whence?
Why do the geese feel friendly now, and hail
Me with a look, now coming forward? They'll
Not be so pissy but lo, comrades?! Sense?
No matter, is not love within as t'were
The air? We'll all be friends now Spring doth woo.
Beef bacon pictured with eggs which in tour
Are sunny-side up, taters roasted too,
How funny that's what I am serving. Stir
Else, and oh LORD, let me with aught praise You.

Seasons and nature combine with food in this delectable treat of sonnets. Very Nice Chic

Now words in the English ( and quite possibly others too - I have no idea) have multiple meanings and connotations attached to them. Would you let me know one or two of your closest to 'hump'? Having struggled on, I really enjoyed your sonnets, Missy.

Belatedly informed Wednesday is also known as "Hump Day" and left to my own devices, I figured it must be owing to the fact it's the middle day of the week with 3 before and 3 after. But you're wiser than me and knew that, surely. Thank you very much!

      • Doggerel Dave

Solved! Ready for take off down the other side of the week! Wish me luck as you wave me good bye...ah - you are sliding down too?

Beef and bacon topping the menu, what's hump day?, enjoyed today's offering

Wednesday is known as Hump Day, or so I was told, and you can see my reply to DD for my limited knowledge on the meaning. Thank you so very much!

          • Poetic Licence

That would mean something different over here

            • Cheeky Missy

              Oh. Alright.

Devilishly delicious words delivered so delightfully Missy .. but what pray is a hump other than a lump in a road or the quick consensual union of two souls on a mission to share their bodily fluids .. Oh' and while we are at it, who is this Barry geeza eh' .. Neville

James J. Barry and the most fascinating fact about the history behind Barry's Tea is the assessment it's popularity and spread is classic word-of-mouth, proving itself afresh in my own case since, I'll spare you further, but from my cousin's English husband to my close friend, that's how it goes, so beautifully too. And as I told PL, my explanation for Hump Day was stated earlier, please refer to that. Thank you again so very, very much, dear friend!

You are queen of the sonnets. Shakespeare would be proud. Great work.

                • Cheeky Missy

You are far too kind. Thank you so very, very much!
