A lifetime of sorrow

Nicole Pritchard

Self-destruction's heavy weight

Crushes the soul, a devasting fate

Past mistakes linger, impossible to undo

A shattered heart, with each shard, pierces anew

Guilt's burden drags me down

Into the depth of a river, with no turning around

A heart once full, now still and grey

Tears fall, but can't mend the shatter away

Lost dreams and haunting thoughts remain

A constant reminder of the pain I've gained

A lifetime of sorrow, my deserved fate

Regret's ache, a punishment that's simply too late

Regret precedes guilt. This poem well written and rhymed flows smoothly. The message all too well known echoes int the hearts of many. Nicely done

Making mistakes is human. But the most surprising thing is that even rich life experience sometimes does not help to avoid them.

Reflection on mistakes made and the sense of guilt that follows, enjoyed the read
