Buzzard.

Goldfinch60

Just hanging in the sky with effortless motion,

Swirling in wide lazy circles, going ever upward,

No wing beats on this fine, sunny, still day;

The occasional mew breaking the peace.

Eyes looking around for mile on mile;

Still going upwards, on this windless day,

Until at last the prey is seen, and like an arrow

It stoops to the ground with incredible speed.

When I come back I want to be a buzzard

Hanging in the sky with that effortless ease.

      I would too if not for the menu. It takes a tough stomach to be a buzzard. A fun and uplifting read Gold

        We have big kites - the birds - swooping down. Or are they buzzards? KP's an old buzzard. lol.

        • Goldfinch60

          Red kites are becoming more prolific in this country Orchi and they are beautiful birds.

          Oh, so that’s what happened. Welcome back… reminds me of the vulture society that Mowgli was made an honourary member of. 🙏🏻🕊

              So very true Tobani, just flying above the world in silence would be wonderful.

              Really enjoyed the read, Andy. I have always happened to love and respect buzzards. A most important part of the food chain and ecosystems they belong to. Besides, bald is beautiful! 🤣

              • Goldfinch60

                Thank you Tristan, much appreciated.

                Good write, Andy.
                Flying high, waiting for the prey to die, then swooping in on the freshly dead.

                  Thank you Jerry.

                    Nicely done. A fine write and brilliant song choice. Love that tune! Sinatra also does a great version.
