The Days of Milk and Marmalade.

David Wakeling

My teddy bear days are soft and old,
They have the fragrance of joy and mould.
My kitten days are bright and bold,
Like silver wishes and dreams of gold.

The girlfriend moments are full of hate,
Tethered Love that could never wait.
Unbridled milkshakes at the closed gate,
Marmalade on toast and breakfast at eight.

The lonely days are long and filled with grit,
My memories are snakes that will not quit.
The friends are clouds in a swirling fit.
It was a good life I’m sure, I just forgot to live it

A lovely write David such a nice set of images that most can relate to and their clear representation of conflict and lack of appreciation at the time. The last line puts the stake through the heart, shamefully reminding us all that we should appreciate each day as it comes. Brilliant!
