It's a mystery...
A guy used to reply to everything
Whether a question or a statement
With 'Why?!'
Think of what the question or statement could have been
Could be anything
Then realise how in some cases the reply is bonkers!
A couple of examples:
'Does the No.7 bus stop here?' - 'Why?'
'It's a nice day today' - 'Why?'
'How far is it to the Moon?' - 'Why?'
'We had a roast dinner today' - 'Why?'
But an example causing great woe is:'
'I married KP' - 'Why?'
Not got the foggiest idea why! heehee
Though I did see a quiz show
In which several questions needed an answer
A guy replied to every answer - 'Chicken!'
'There's nowt so queer as folk', as they saying goes
And...
'There's more nutty people outside the loony bin than in it!'
