I'm sorry

vividvoid14

Let me say sorry—

I'm sorry.

I'm so...

I'm so damn sorry.

My heart's aching,

Like thunder in a chest that’s breaking.

I’ve never felt this much pain,

Never felt this… worthless.

Like an empty bastard

Left behind by purpose.

I know he's better for you.

That thought cuts deep, but it’s true.

Still I whisper “I care for you,”

But caring don’t fix the damage I do.

I want you to be happy,

Even if it’s not with me.

It just hurts more

When I’m the reason you're not free.

Everything, everyone has left me.

I’m watching doors close gently.

And I wonder —

How long till you forget me completely?

Because when that day comes,

When I fade from your memory…

That’s the day I stop fighting

And finally…

end the misery.

Sad this poem speaks from the perspective of one with love unrequited. Nicely written from a first person perspective.

  • Poetic Licence

A passionate write of undying love, and is struggling to move on through the hurt and pain, nicely expressed and written
