Tristan Robert Lange

Here today where yesterday is no more,
Where life and love cough up consumption
With bloody vengeance, a settled score
Twisted perilously on blind assumption.

Who can know the blow that kills
Before the blow has been properly put?
Who can know the hurt that spills
In hearts haunted by demons afoot?

Love the metaphor of tuberculosis which parallels and even surpasses that of classic syphilis catalyst in literature πŸ™πŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

Clever wording Tristan the first line starts off well and very poetic. The second has a great feel in that consumption or TB is based upon the consuming of the lungs and here the originally intended meaning makes it the simple using up of love and life. The TB metaphor is emphasized in the next line with blood. The idea of life and love in the second stanza where we do not know what ends life or love. Such a lovely weaving of words. Very nice a fave

On Tax Day no less, La dee! What a lament. If I'd not chanced to read an article on some residential damages oddly incurred Palm Sunday, it might seem more esoteric. Funny, I'll bet you weren't signifying that, however. Mournful and ghastly, macabre as your seeming preference, rendered to effect with excellent imagery and beautifully to boot, its poignancy haunts the day with a clinging persistence. Thank you for sharing.

Oooh. Haunting the πŸ‘» whole day πŸ‘». I am most humbled and honored, my dear poet and friend! Me, prefer mournful, ghastly and macabreβ€”why, whatever would have given you that impression? 🀣 Okay, my silly sarcasm aside, I truly am thankful for your time, your thoughtful read, and your very generous and supportive words, my friend. You are much appreciated! πŸ–€πŸ™πŸ©ΈπŸ•―οΈπŸ«πŸ“‰
