Did I Make a Mistake?

Accidental Poet

I stopped in a store

To buy a few things

Not a lot

Just some random items

Went to check out

Pay for my stuff

When I realized

My cash was not enough

So I used my debit card

When the automated teller asked

Do I want cash back?

My answer lightning fast

My things all paid for

Receipt in hand

And away I went

Feeling so grand

While driving away

I remembered my cash

A quick turn around

Back into the store I dashed

Nowhere in sight

Was my forgotten money

Was I the source of someone’s guilt

Or a joke so funny

And as I pondered my mistake

The thought occurred to me

Quite possibly someone asked of God

A miracle in need

Suddenly a wave of assurance

And a smile rushed over me

That God called on my help

To help someone in need

What a wonderful and uplifting poem. Freeing in the idea that all things have a positive purpose. So kind in the idea that doing for the needing is a wonderful thing. The very message of this poem gains a fave
