The Streets

Tony36

He feels alone in the world

He feels forgotten and scared

Has no home

A runaway upon the streets.

Living as best he can

He wonders why it has to be this way

After the people who killed his parents

He has lived in hiding

Trusting no one

Tears streak down his chin

As he remembers how it used to be

The joy

The laughter

Sure there were fights

Sure there were arguments

But they were few and far between

Alone now

Upon the streets

Fighting for food

Fighting for life

The harshness of life in this poem. Well written and with just enough detail to provoke a sense of empathy.

Well done, Tony. It shows how harsh life can be and conveys the urgency of the situation. A fave from me. 🌹👏

Very emotive words Tony, unfortunately this is happening so often now and it needn't be that way but those in power do not care.
