the skull called place

Tristan Robert Lange

This damnable day drones on
just over halfway through
it has felt like an unbearable eternity
each miasmic moment moribund
speech reduced to manducation

the thirst is endless

yet nothing will quench it
it is there to remind
that suffering is to be
the world weaponizes and devours
from the moment of birth
belonging was not a reality.

scorn wears a blood stained shroud
punitive punishment for
pushing for penitent posturing
people scoff
they are confident in their confusion
their ignorance an igloo

love can still be felt for them

their hate harms them
reconciliation is a rewarding road
a reckoning with reason

what is the reason
what is the reason for all this death
why is it that abandonment finds its roots
deep in faithful soil
why is it that humans paint trees red

suspenseful suspension aids in tanning

but there is no sun this day
no friends show support
no miracle for mother
solidarity comes with vultures
pecking at a carrion carcass
half-living
weight becomes a weapon
hypoxic dreams set in

A very powerful beginning that thunders at the reader with the power of the heavens then your trademark of falling letter and long spaces to punctuate the meaning. Well done my friend

Dang, Tristan! By night or day, the misery finds an eloquent scribe to tell of that internal struggle none but feel, yet fewer can put into words as deliciously as yourself. La dee! Gorgeously rendered with nigh exquisite imagery, that particular delight of poets in consonance and assonance, and a gripping, haunting, familiar poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! I am humbled, my dear friend. Glad this delivered and resonated on all of those accounts. Your time, analysis and sincere ongoing support is such a blessing. Much appreciated dear poet and friend. πŸ™πŸ–€πŸŒ‘πŸ’€πŸ•―οΈπŸ§

If it was just an entirely 'dark' poem for the sake of it, I could say 'Ahh, so you've spent one while day with KP?!' heehee.

Hehehe! πŸ˜‚ I was waiting for "turn on the dang lights...I can't even see your poem's picture now." All jokes aside, thank you Orchi! Much appreciated my friend. πŸ™πŸ–€πŸŒ‘πŸ’€πŸ•―οΈπŸ§

The dark inner struggle gathering pace through the write only to be then slowed down to arrive at its destined conclusion, no nicely expressed and written

Hi Triston, Excellent, excellent write. I read this twice and my mind absorbed each word written. And as I was saying WOW to one stanza, along came another one just as good if not better than the words I just read. Seriously, excellent write!
