I can’t take one so young.

David Wakeling

As a teenager I always loved the Sea.
I swam everyday even in bad weather.
I even went swimming at night.
It was a bright clear day in September,
I dove into the water and it felt strange.
There was blood in the water.
It was coming from my head.
I didn’t feel anything as I started to sink.
I laid down on the sand under the water.
Above me I saw two ladies standing on he beach,
One was dressed completely in a dark black .
She even had a black veil covering her face.
The other one was brighter than a star and
Was wearing a white dress and white shoes.
By some strangeness I could hear them speak.
The black lady spoke first:
“I cannot take him he’s too young.”
“You must!” said the white lady.
“I will not take one so young.”
“He is yet to see the world. He has not done anything.
He has not felt Love or had any Joy.”
“You must take him. The Father has willed it.”
“I know it is hard but you must realise his life
would be one of great suffering. Do you want that.”
I opened my eyes and looked around.
I crawled up onto the dry sand and rested.
All I could hear was the dark lady repeating:
“I cannot take one so young he hasn’t suffered enough!”

A great fable and in its meaning the mind ponders upon the purpose of life. A wonderful write that is far deeper than the surface would indicate.
