Of Dreams, Easter Eggs, and Bunnies

Cheeky Missy

Perhaps soon I'll figure out what on earth is going on.

Beware Whenas Ye Read THIS

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCCCXVIII)

The card'nal perches on my deck and thence
'Gins calling like the suitor he is, frail
As my being nary bird. How sparrows hail
Before and since, the light so fragile hence
It seems a question. Rain is forecast, whence
That comes a calling, gently like t'avail
T'would woo just as my redbreast lover, trail
And all half shining in that note fr'intents.
Mid afternoon a lull invites as t'were,
Whence I take Princess for her bath anew.
If Sunday's peace reigns, folk in church clothes tour
With happy chatting like the hol'day'd cue,
Where I'd an invite but demurred, was't poor?
Why's all a dirty joke? LORD, what is true?

...so VERY long ago.

One Dozen Eggs in Rainbow Tints

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCCCXIX)

Too many years ago twas that detail
Of coloured eggs Mum helped us craft, and thence
Hid for us 'round the house, these deviled, whence
We'd that treat with the baskets which'd avail
With funky plastic "grass" and bunnies' trail
To sugared spikes in choc'late, birdies' sense
In pinks and yellows of marshmallows dense
With goo, the plastic eggs with toys for bail.
I don't know when that ended, only fer
Aught Easter joys: it did. All we e'er knew
Could never last, though oft I'd pine in tour
For such. You'll say I shoulda learned. Tis true.
The fancy dress and tights, gloss black shoes were
A dream which vanished. LORD, that we'd seek You.

What could be better, eh?

Where Songs Seem Call From Every Nook

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCCCXX)

How sparrows tease and I can't figure hence
What's best for lunch. Is "freekah" that detail
Our stir-fry would pair with likeas t'avail?
Both crafted with beef broth, tis perfect, whence
Recall ol' Cream of Wheat: farina, thence
To learn the diff'rent ways we eat that bail
For so much in our lives along the trail
From birth to death, bread staple in defense.
Rain leaves off for a spell and puddles cure
The weary light with such blank faces who
Looks down may see their own reflected. Were
That quite sufficient, grass in tufts grows too
Tall, looking lush, and very green. Bestir
Hope in the LORD, my soul. LORD, I'd wait You.

...is so refreshing, isn't it though?

Just Hanging Out With Friends

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMMCCCXXII)

How Robert comes oer just when I've fr'intents
Giv'n up, and hangs out, having our detail
Of grand dessert with us, the fun we'd hail
In simply hanging out such sweet defense
Lo, I rejoice. Cheese blintzes' subtle sense
Of sweetness topped with some preserves t'avail,
Oh, how I lost myself in photos' trail
To where I'd been and him too, like what hence?
Vague dreams of all I'd known yet swirl in tour
Through my poor noggin, like a vision you
See from afar nor would embrace. Is't poor?
Their "big boys dress up club" looks great, the view
Far better now I'm gone, vain hope as t'were
Whenas I'd volunteer not what I knew.

Too many things in these poems brought memories of long ago. Plastic grass the marshmallow, the shined shoes, Sunday dress. Wow flashes from the past. Good write Chic

My, the journal of daily life framed by poetry! A discipline I’ve yet to to find some consistency with. Most admirable 🕊🙏🏻

Loved these Easter poems. It sounds like you had a wonderful one...or, at least, I hope you did, my friend. I am loving your Springtime sonnets! 🌹👏 Oh, not sure if it was too much, but the fun was definitely had!
