When Springtime Returns

Paul Gerard Reed

When you can take off your coat

When the geums start to float

When the country lane turns green

With cow parsley bobbing between;

Like a long-lost returning friend

Trudging through a night without end

Suddenly the light shines once more

And you come knocking upon my door;

My heart bursts with joy to see

That you remembered to come back to me

That I was allowed to meet you again

And hear you sing Spring's refrain.

    How delectable and irresistibly gorgeous, rendered so winsomely with a delicious eloquence and such imagery as heightens the indulgence. Thank you so very much for sharing.
