The sky does not belong to me;
It is too vast for me to grasp.
Still it will not let me be;
It wishes to hold me till I gasp.
The stars do not belong to me;
They are too large for me to hold.
Yet they will not set me free.
They will burn me till I'm cold.
The planets do not belong to me;
They would crush me with their weight.
Even now they are closing in on me;
They will bring me to my fate.
The universe does not belong to me;
It is far too endless an entity.
Never will it let me flee,
It holds me hostage by my identity.
I do not belong to the universe.
I am too small and insignificant.
Still I will cling like a pesky curse,
To the wonderful and the magnificent.

- Comment from author about the poem: The stars, like dust... And yet I am smaller still. Have you ever wanted to get lost amongst the stars and planets, visiting strange new worlds and witnessing untold wonders?

Dimension has little meaning in the infinity of space and scale only matters when considering Newtonian and Quantum mechanics. As to ownership that is such a quaint human idea. Nothing owns anything even the house and property you purchased outright is not yours you rent it from the government that charges taxes on it each year and if not paid you are evicted. A fun read
Thank you! I was in a similar vein of thought. Nothing can truly own anything, but that doesn't mean there's a lack of trying
We spend our lives trying to own things, but the reality is we own nothing at all, and yes i at times wish I could be lost amongst the stars, enjoyed the read
Thanks!
