The smell of lilacs, memories of the past
Roses aroma pungent wafts of adoration
Jasmine summer nights, passion so vast
Petunias, father's loving dedication
Honeysuckle's romance southern perfumes drift
Orange blossoms remembered summer's night breeze
Viburnum, sudden return to a childhood tree's gift
Daphne, old age's winter acceptance, olfaction does please
Daffodils subtle fragrance of spring
Oleander a warning given
Violets mother's scent does bring
Angel trumpets memories in dreams driven
A smell lifts you to heaven or drops you to hell
It's in a petal's shell where perfumes dwell

A whole field and garden of blooms and memories, beautiful 🤩🙏🏻🕊️
Thanks Cryptic smell such a powerful evoker of memories yet so seldom used in poetry. Thanks so much for your read and comment my friend it is most appreciated.
If only poetry could be smelt. LOL...but yes, I agree on that point about the sense not being quite featured in poetry as much. Most welcome my friend🙏🏻🕊️
I love the fragrance of flowers and this is a great list that I will have to check out.Excellent structure here.Enjoyable to read
Thank you David for your read and kind words they are always anticipated and appreciated. Yes this poem came about sniffing the orange blossoms blooming but smell is such a strong stimulator of memory that their similarity to Angel trumpets brought the memory of sitting in my backyard in a summer evening when the smell of angel trumpets was so strong that it was literally intoxicating and drunk on their fragrance I lay for hours.
Amazing how smells of all sorts awaken those memories, lovely write, enjoyed the read
Thanks so much Tobani for your read and most kind words of support and encouragement. Yes smell is the most powerful evoker of memory good or bad.
The poem masterfully weaves vivid imagery to awaken the senses. For instance, “The smell of lilacs” and “Roses' aroma pungent wafts” craft a sensory experience that readers can vividly envision and almost smell. Your poem beautifully reminds me of the profound power of scent to evoke memories and emotions, inspiring reflection on personal experiences intertwined with nature and relationships. It elegantly underscores the notion that memories linger in the fragrances we encounter, connecting the past with the present.
