Finding Tomorrow

orchidee

Nope, not some deep philosophical piece

Or about some 'destiny in life' sort of thing

Even with the maybe enigmatic title

But just some drivel, some garbage

That you might be able to help me with!

Have ya found 'tomorrow'?

If so, where did ya find it?

Can I buy it from the Co-op, Tesco

Or some local store?

Ya see, my dilemma is

I can never find 'tomorrow'

It seems to be gone for ever

Cos every time it gets here -

It's 'today'!

Hmm - strange that

And then, after each 24 hours, each 'today' becomes 'yesterday'

So there's millions of yesterdays and todays

For me - and Goldfinch too

But no tomorrows for me! Heehee.

And Fido said to me:

By the time you find out what 'Carpe diem' means

There won't be any day left to seize

It'll be bedtime!

Enough ramblings from me

'Ramblings?' says Fido

As he fetches his leash

'Where we going for walkies?'

Walkies today that is - never 'tomorrow'!

Fido is such a wise one! 🙏🏻🕊️

      Thank you A.

Haiku, hey? You have such creative urges orchi, that I believe you would be best to consolidate and stay forever in today, where you have really found your length. If you venture into tomorrow with the rest of us, you may find you have lost the plot, all that energy dissipated.

      • orchidee

Thank you D. But since when did I ever find the plot?! lol.

        • Doggerel Dave

This is your one and only chance, man. Grasp it with both hands..

          • orchidee

I would grasp the chance to get the plot, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get out of this building if there is a fire. There is only one door, a Fire Door, with the Notice: 'This door must be kept closed at all times'. Hmmm. Jump out the window then, says Fido. He knows. And how did I get in the building to start with?

These questions reveal some of the most intractable mysteries in the universe and it may be aeons before any rational answers become available.

              • orchidee

Why, yes, and one of the mysteries being - is Fido real?! lol.

Ah Orchi this is a gem one of your best. A serious message sent in the disguise of humor and all with a time stamp that has an expiration date stamped 12:00 A.M.. Good stuff Orchi a fave

Tomorrow keeps slipping away just as we reach for it. It's a gentle reminder to cherish the present . Love the playful and whimsical vibe of the poem!

As you know Orchi today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.
